WHAT's this about?

The purpose of my Eagle Scout Project is to bring awareness to the issue of homelessness, to raise funds and to provide backpacks to the homeless.  All people need daily essentials, and children need basic school supplies.  With community support, I hope to provide hundreds of backpacks filled with these items to help the homeless in our community.  I have partnered with the Illumination Foundation to help break the cycle of homelessness.  Won't you join me?

Why backpacks?  Because everyone needs daily essentials to care for their hygiene, and children need school supplies.  Plus, the Illumination Foundation has found that backpacks filled with useful supplies help break the cycle of homelessness by not only providing for basic needs, but they open the door to greater communication and longer lasting support that can turn a life around.  The Illumination Foundation specializes in just that; their mission is to provide targeted, interdisciplinary services for the most vulnerable homeless clients in order to break the cycle of homelessness.

I figure that many people aren't aware of the homelessness problem since we live in a pretty affluent area of the country, or that people just don't know what to do to help.  So, this is an opportunity to bridge that gap by shedding light on the problem and facilitating a call to action bringing much needed relief to those who need it most.

This project is dedicated to all who value Kindness.
